Weddings 3...

So here is my third and last 'Weddings' post I have from my archives!

It was quite fun to re-visit my older photos; i find it interesting to see how i have grown, or how i perceived my environment then, and how i see it (and choose to capture it) now.

With this wedding I was the 2nd photographer and had just bought my SB 800 Speedlight. Such a beautiful piece of equipment, it makes such a difference.

Until this wedding I hadnt shot a reception outside. Such a nice change; it opens up so much more creative channels. It also makes it a little bit easier because of the adequate light...then you dont have to worry about exposure and, in turn, due to the space and extensive light, it helps you then with your actual positioning during the reception. (No one likes a photographer standing right in front of the priest ;) )

I love CU (close ups) like this with a bit of greenery in the foreground...sweet ;)

This is great detail on the hands and for me it was a great CA (cut away) bringing through the positivity of the sermon.

I love low angle shots and this with the confetti cones in the top of the frame just made the picture work...

I couldnt have asked for better lighting, exposure or compensation for this picture...well maybe a soft grad for the blown out sky! (that would have enabled me to get proper exposure behind my subject) But looking at it again (and with my head tilted to the side a bit...) it adds to the sincere hug the bride and her grandmother are sharing.

Dark and ominous...it creates quite a cool effect. I like it.

Fun action photos add to the natural aspect to a wedding; i prefer this to staged, posed and calculated photography. For me, miscellaneous/in the moment photos capture the mood better.

Here, at last, is a picture that I used my new speedlight for...the candle and fairy lights worked well to create a romantic and "warm homey" feel.

This couple I caught very nicely with my new speedlight. I found it quite fun to stand and shoot and hope for the best when it comes to moving images..maybe I should do sports photography as well!!

Another wedding I did as 2nd photographer: the reception was next to a lake and under big Willow trees. This created awesome character and depth in the frame. The couple is Eric and Suzanne.
I really like this picture for its character and natural positioning.

This is a cool photo with having the car's bonnet in for ground. Its great making it look almost panoramic...
This picture is one of my few film photographs, I love shooting film, it is just a bit costly. If the wedding has enough budget I would always shoot a few rolls of film. It creates a much more organic feel regarding skin tone and focus.

I love these more creative compositions and grades, it adds variety to the final package i give to the couple. Its also great to feed off the couple; how much they lend you their creativity is vital to the success of the finished product.

I think this must be one of my favourite pictures of the day...the grade is soft but noticeable, it's a natural pose...the lighting works. sweet...

This is also an interesting frame, cool foreground wooden slates make the image look wider than it actually is.
O.k well...i think this is it for now. So until i speak again and you read another, cheers.
